Iba has a BA in Economics from St. Mary’s College in Shillong and an MBA in Marketing from the New Delhi Institute of Management. As Secretary of Youth Affairs for the Meghalaya United Nations Association she planned and implemented youth-led sustainable development projects across the state, and led the implementation of an FAO-funded bee-keeping project after completing the Participatory Rural Appraisal in the project villages. She currently leads gender empowerment livelihood projects in North East India engaging rural women in sustainable development.
