Mangroves & blue carbon
Mangroves are the engine of our blue carbon work. They store far more carbon than terrestrial forests — most of it locked permanently in the soil beneath their roots — while forming a living bio-shield that protects coastal communities from storms and erosion.
The Thor Heyerdahl Climate Parks honour the Norwegian explorer and environmentalist — a founding member and long-time Vice President of our partner Worldview International Foundation. Alongside EcoFriend World, we are honouring that legacy with new mangrove parks.

Track record — 2007 to 2026
Our India team’s roots go deeper still — from FAO bee-keeping programmes in 1999 to India’s first community carbon REDD+ project in the Khasi Hills, spring mapping, climate-resilient paddy conservation and World Bank-supported landscape work.
