Grace Kamukama

Grace Kamukama is a Programme Officer in the Green Enterprises department of Generosity Impact Uganda. A graduate of Makerere University, one of Uganda’s most prestigious universities, Grace holds a bachelor’s degree with a focus on economics. She is a green entrepreneur who has invested time and resources in promoting climate-smart enterprises, with a particular focus on expanding access to clean energy. She is part of Uganda’s green movement, which works with other stakeholders to help rural communities reduce deforestation and increase reforestation. Through her work with a United Nations young women’s empowerment programme, she became a committed advocate for women’s empowerment, a goal she pursues through smart-agriculture training for women’s economic empowerment. An alumna of the youth employment movement behind the “6Es”, Grace advocates for equitable use and distribution of land as a lever for climate change mitigation, highlighting how long-standing cultural prejudices that restrict women’s access to land contribute to land fragmentation and poor land use.
