Launched on 3 December 2023 in the presence of the British and Swedish Ambassadors to India, Regeneration Meghalaya will plant 65 million native trees to restore cloud-forest ecosystems in the highlands of Meghalaya — the land where the clouds come home.
The programme is implemented with the Hill Farmers’ Shiitake Mushroom Cooperative Society and supported by AstraZeneca in the UK, restoring degraded jhum land while building durable farmer livelihoods.
A sister programme, Regeneration Kenya, followed in January 2024 with the Green Planet Initiative 2050 — planting millions of native trees in the highlands of western Kenya.
